Internet Business Blog

I’ve read recently on SEOmoz and on Danny Sullivan’s Blog that Google and Bing confirmed that Facebook & Twitter influence SEO. Google & Bing analyze also whom you follow on Twitter and who follows you and depending on their authority add extra value to the links. Another huge fact announced by Bing was that if a link is shared both on Twitter and Facebook, it gives extra juice to it. It matters also both for Google and Bing how many times a blog post or article was published in these social media and by how many people.
Social Media Tips Facebook and Twitter
These simple facts confirm only how much value social media gain every single day. On the other hand, it is not surprising, knowing that a lot of people love using Twitter and Facebook to engage in various discussions, stay in touch with their friends, and find out what’s hot. Also more and more companies promote their business on Facebook. Quick observation of what’s happening makes me think that it is only an upward trend.

Having all that in mind, the question is: do you make it easier for your blog readers to share your articles on their social media profiles?

I have tested several social media WordPress plugins and there is one free plugin, which I really love and find very useful. It is 1-Click Retweet/Share/Like.
You can see this plugin in action at the bottom of my post. It combines Twitter, Facebook Share and Facebook Like buttons. There are also other social media buttons, which you can add.

Why is it so useful

  1. You use just one plugin, instead of 3 different ones, such as: Tweetmeme/Topsy Retweet Button, Facebook Like, Facebook Share.
  2. The plugin can be configured to your needs.
  3. It looks really nice and helps sharing your great content easily πŸ™‚

Why do you need Facebook Like and Facebook Share buttons?
They are different. When someone uses Facebook Like – it displays a link to the liked post with the post title in their profile.
When someone uses Facebook Share – it display a title, link, short description and an image associated with your shared post.

Both can be a great way to show your content to a lot of Facebook fans πŸ™‚

I also read that SEOMoz article, and I agree on their opinion. With the internet becoming more ‘social’, it is understandable that Google/Bing take Social Media into account. When a website is really awesome, people should mention it on social sites right?!

      Definitely Frans!

I think it is a great point that not only backlinks matter but social interest in the site and value it has for the readers πŸ™‚

I knew that links shared on Facebook or Twitter will have some impact, however, I still don’t understand the mechanism much. For instance, we know that if the links are shared on news feed, they are pretty useless because there’s no certain URL lead to that links. So, how’s about links on the fan page? Are they better off?

I just have a hard time incorporating Twitter into my daily online activities, it just feels like i have to stretch out my arm to reach for something far away, while everything else, like my blog and Facebook, are right in front of me. So i welcome anything that can assist me in making my Twitter a useful tool.

      Hi Mohammed,

yes truly it can be overwhelming dealing with so many things online. And social media can be so time-consuming providing that you use it without any goal and without setting time-frames. For Twitter you could have a look at some useful applications such as Buffer or TweetDeck.
